Phosphating
Protect Your Work and Maintain a Brilliant Finish.

Coating a metal surface is crucial to it’s longevity, so treat your work with one of our coatings to ensure the best corrosion resistance.
Phosphate Coatings
Adding a phosphate conversion coating to the surface of your work can be one of the most important steps in ensuring a quality, durable finish.
Phosphate coatings are predominantly used for corrosion resistance in a number of applications such as prior to painting, environments rich in oil (e.g. Engines), or even cold forming processes. The products can be applied via spraying or immersion and can be used on aluminium and zinc amongst other metals.
Cambrian Solvents offer a range of phosphating solutions and ancillary treatments.
Iron Phosphates
These are used by spray or immersion, where maximum gloss is required. They produce a lightweight amorphous coating. Iron phosphates are principally used to coat steel components, but they will produce light conversion coatings on aluminium and zinc. They are usually used with a detergent in multi stage cleaner/ phosphate lines.
SUPERFOS FD: Principally for use on steel. Fluoride modified for multi metal applications. SUPERFOS FD also contains surfactants for cleaning the work.
SUPERFOS FEL(F): Our highly concentrated product for maximum economy in use. SUPERFOS FEL(F) is not detergented as received. For use in steel only applications, or mixed metal lines. SUPERFOS FEL(F) is used in conjunction with SUPERFOS ADDITIVE where it is used as a cleaner/ phosphate.
SUPERFOS FHF: Principally used by immersion, SUPERFOS FHF is a “high build” iron phosphate to give heavier coating weights on difficult steels.
SUPERFOS TN: Is a titanium/iron phosphate principally used as an environmentally friendly alternative to chromating aluminium, can also be used for steel.
Zinc Phosphates
SUPERFOS CM: Calcium modified zinc phosphate for immersion use in steel coating lines, where a heavy alkaline cleaner or a strong acid pickle have been used prior to phosphating. SUPERFOS CM produces a soft “satin” coating of zinc/calcium phosphate.
SUPERFOS IM/R: Heavy duty zinc phosphate, typically run with “free iron” to give coarse and heavy coatings prior to staining and oiling operations,.
SUPERFOS TRC: Our most sophisticated pre paint phosphate, a manganese/zinc/iron “tricat” phosphate producing light weight coatings on steel and mixed metals.
Manganese Phosphates
HIFOS M/MHT: An acidic liquid of Specific Gravity 1.31 used by immersion to deposit a heavyweight iron-manganese phosphate coating on steel components. The fine uniform crystal structure acts as an ideal lubricant carrier for “running in” applications. It may be oiled to provide a corrosion resistant coating.
